I’m not sure how many artistic geniuses there are in life. I’d say quite a few as the population of Deviantart has now surpassed that of Capital City, Canada. Therefore, I think it is possible deduct from such facts that if I were to apply to the fine arts program at Yale, my chances of surviving the process of Educational Darwinism would be rather … lanky.

In fact, they might be lankier then the 90 pound models I’d end up working with if say, I say, stay with my current field of study.

It’s not that I don’t love fashion design. It’s that the business of apparel is not overly gratifying. Daily battles with the sewing mashine and the physical principles of life (which refuses to let one to sew anything in a straight line) dull in compairson to the satisfaction I could potentially achieve from painting the next Mona Lisa. Maybe it’s because I honest to god miss my oil paints but drawing stick figures, or rather, figures which resemble sticks (or disproprtional thin women) makes your eyes bonko after a while - but maybe I’m just seeking the deeper, less what’s the word? Oh yes, superficial things in life.

But whatever it is, I will wait until after Toronto Fashion Week to pounder over.

Mainwhile, I should probably start drawing properly again.

I find that my biggest flaw is still painting in detail. I’m okay with colours and general shapes - but when it comes to detailing, I falter and fail. I have no patience what so ever. But I guess that’s something I can practice and improve in the future!

But either way, here’s my latest project.

I’ve extended my Box Boy series and here’s the latest of Moe, the box boy.

I originally intended for this one to be a decorative piece for my new bathroom in the new house I’m moving in to. However, I’d also like to sell it if I can.

If you’re interested - the painting is oil on canvas. It’s 14 x 14 x 1 & 1/2 inches. I’m selling for about $100 - $150 CND ($130-160 USD) shipping included. Price is always negotiable within reason. Email me / comment if you’re interested!

I went shopping yesterday at Wallack’s. That’s an art supplier for those who don’t know. Art supplies in general are as expensive as hell. Getting yourself a good set of anything means usually a small fortune.

Needless to say, I spent a total of about $200 yesterday. Luckily, I had a $50 gift certificate (thanks to my art teacher in HS who’s absolutely amazing and gave me the Creative Arts award) and it knocked the total down to $150. But still expensive. And all I really got were some Prisma Markers (love love love), a Moleskin (ahhh!! LOVE), a few black liners, a few canvases & a set of Marie watercolours. Actually, I really wanted the Winsor & Newton watercolours. But they were $80. ( It was sad.

But I did test out my new supplies today on a fashion sketch. Have to say, Prisma > Crayola. Though I used both in the sketch, the Prisma markers were definitely of a higher quality.

 Step One: Lines

Step two: Shadows

Step three: Colours!!
